Young Galaxy Get to Work on Sophomore Album

young galaxy_2.jpgYoung Galaxy is one of the latest additions to the indie-friendly Arts & Crafts label (Feist, The Dears, Los Campesinos!) that doesn't include a member of Broken Social Scene. Their self-titled debut made waves with boy/girl harmonies and triumphant dreamy, rock anthems that depict the trials of relationships. Recently, the Canadian band announced that its back in the studio, and offered several more updates on their Web site: lineup changes, their sophomore album and when fans can expect new material.

"We are a five-piece down from a six-piece in a bid to make our sound more immediate and muscular. This decision was facilitated largely by the arrival of two new members, Liam O' Neill and Max Henry, two freshly minted McGill music school phenomenons who bring more talent in their little fingers than I have in my whole body!

We have recorded the majority of it to date with Radwan Moumneh (Silver Mt. Zion, Pas Chic Chic) at Hotel2Tango here in Montreal, but will also be doing some time with our good buddy and collaborator Jace Lasek (The Besnard Lakes) at Breakglass Studios once again."
Young Galaxy.jpgThe band goes on to say that they've got eight songs in the can, but aren't looking to release the album until early next year. The other good news is that there's an EP in the works for fall, with the group touring "non-stop" well into 2009.

If you live in Toronto,, Ontario you won't need too wait until next year to catch the quintet. Young Galaxy will join Stars, Death Cab For Cutie and Rogue Wave at the Olympic Island festival in Toronto on June 7. Tickets are available now.
