I like most of the material I've heard from Brooklynites Vivian Girls, but I'd submit that Katie the Pest is also worth looking into. Both artists are very similar in feel -- driving, choppy garage rock with female vocals -- and the recent peaked interest in the New York trio begs for a comparison.

The similarities, and influence, of bands like Black Tambourine and Aisler's Set are pretty clear, but Katie the Pest don't seem to be caught up in nostalgia. Check out this video for "Golden," taken from the band's This Giant Will Kill You, and tell me I'm wrong.
