L.A. Spotlight: The Movies

Moviesss.jpgIn certain circles, Movies frontman Tim James may be the most interesting and visually satisfying musician/entertainer to behold, and his band's latest offering of new tracks -- produced by Mighty Lemon Drop Dave Newton -- show the quintet relying on more matured songwriting without losing their tongue-in-cheek lyrics.

Based on a True Story is the latest -- and still unreleased -- offering from the L.A. crowd-pleasers. Songs we've had a chance to sample so far are "When I Was in Nam," "Missed Opportunities," and the catchy driving pop of "Monumental Life." Syncopated synths follow choppy guitars as Tim "Robert Goulet" James' croon depicts relationship woes and hilarious scenarios that young adults aspire to.
