L.A. Times Cuts the Cream From the Crop: Kevin Bronson
I could make a laundry list of artists who owe Bronson a big debt of gratitude. He's partially responsible for helping several bands get their names out there -- which has inevitably lead to serious radio play, label interest and international exposure. But what's most irritating about this situation is that once this economy swings back in the next year, or when the paper realizes the error in judgment they made, they'll be kissing his ass for a re-hire. Why? Because, obviously, he's irreplaceable.
I'm not sure what to think of the newspaper at this point. Do I really have a need to make it a part of my life anymore ... I don't think so. Bronson's 'Buzz Bands' column was all I needed. And while there are a handful of L.A. -centered blogs that I still value and find essential on a daily basis, there's a massive gap in the L.A.'s music scene.
So, if you're a music publication or label looking for a talent expert, or someone to help establish credibility at your place of business, you know what to do.
Let the bidding begin.
