Live Review: Amy Macdonald

Amy MacdonaldGlasgow's Amy Macdonald turned in a stellar performance last night at New York's Mercury Lounge, and Greg Robson was there to catch her set.

Sunday looked empty when compared to the thousands of fans who flooded Coachella for last night's Prince extravaganza, but I wasn't worried. Acts like My Morning Jacket, Swervedriver and Autolux all created blissed-out worlds of rock for fans to get lost in, myself included. I also managed to catch stellar performances from Metric, Spiritualized, Stars, Holy F--- and I'm From Barcelona.

Every year we seem to encounter Hacky Sack crews that just can't seem to give up on the '80s, and then there's these dudes.

Trash bags came in handy on Friday, especially for Les Savy Fav's Tim Harrington, Midnight Juggernauts convinced the crowd that pounding electro-rock anthems can be elevated to new heights, and The Verve made their triumphant return after nine years.

LOS ANGELES - San Francisco folk-rocker Thao Nguyen, along with her band the Get Down Stay Down, delivered an electric set of indie jams to a full house on Friday night at the Echo. Her impressive stage presence, delivery and openness with the crowd won over just about everybody there.
